Out and About
The Parks Cottage is situated close to the renowned Offa's Dyke path (national trail), as well as a host of other treasures for walkers, gardeners, history buffs and those just looking to relax. The house is located on Stonewall Hill, historically a drover’s route, which marks the Wales/Herefordshire border, as well as being a regional cycling route. Offa's Dyke walking trail is within 2 miles and the visitor centre is located in Knighton.
Presteigne (Llanandras in Welsh), our closest village, was once the county town of Radnorshire and nestles at the heart of the Marches on the border of Wales and England. Surrounded by beautiful, unspoilt countryside, this thriving border town has many unique qualities that make it both a delightful destination and a base from which to explore. Set alongside the river Lugg, at the corner of the three counties of Shropshire, Herefordshire and Powys, it is within a short drive from Hay on Wye, Hereford, Ludlow and Shrewsbury. It is home to the award-winning small museum, The Judges Lodging, as well as an international classical music festival in August, and a wealth of interesting shops and cafes.
